The Chamoson-Chippis 380 kV line works can go ahead (Switzerland)

The Swiss Federal Court has has rejected the complaints which were lodged against the Swiss Federal Administrative Court's (SFAC) decision on 14 December 2016 regarding the construction of the 380-kV overhead airline between Chamoson and Chippis (Wallis Canton, Switzerland). Swissgrid can now launch the construction works, which are expected to begin in 2018.

The construction plans for the Chamoson – Chippis 380 kV 30-km long overhead line were approved by Swissgrid back in 2010 but complaints were filed against the project with the SFAC, which endorsed the project in August 2012. This decision was confirmed later on by the Swiss Federal Court in May 2013 and the construction plans were validated by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE) in January 2015. In December 2016, the SFAC rejected the complaints against the SFOE's decision but the project was still suspended due to the ongoing lodged complaints.
