CGN installs reactor vessel on the Hongyanhe-5 nuclear project (China)

Chinese nuclear group China General Nuclear (CGN) has installed the reactor pressure vessel (RPV) for the 1,080 MWe Hongyanhe-5 ACPR-1000 nuclear reactor, which is currently under construction in China's Liaoning province. The equipment was manufactured by Shanghai Electric Nuclear Power Equipment.

The Hongyanhe nuclear power plant consists of four 1,087 MWe CPR-1000 pressurized water reactors (first phase). The first two reactors were commissioned in June 2013 and May 2014, respectively, and unit 3 in August 2015. The fourth unit reached criticality in March 2016 and was connected to the grid one month later. CGN is developing a second phase, consisting of two 1,080 MWe China General Nuclear (CGN)-designed ACPR1000 reactors. The construction of the Hongyanhe-5 and Hongyanhe-6 started respectively in March and July 2015. The reactors are expected to be commissioned by 2021.

The Hongyanhe nuclear power plant is owned and operated by Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power, a joint venture between CGNPC and China Power Investment (45% each), while the Dalian Municipal Construction Investment holds 10%.
