Centrica signs 15-year SPA to buy 1 Mt/year of LNG from Delfin Port (US)

The British energy company Centrica has signed a 15-year sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with the US LNG export infrastructure development company Delfin Midstream for the supply of 1 Mt/year of LNG, on a free-on-board (FOB) basis, from the Delfin Deepwater Port located 74 km off the coast of the US State of Louisiana. The SPA was agreed for a value of US$8bn.

The agreement will see Centrica take delivery of around 14 LNG cargoes per year. The deal follows a Heads of Agreement signed between Centrica and Delfin Midstream in August 2022. Operations and first LNG are expected to commence at the Delfin Deepwater Port in 2027.

In June 2022, Centrica also signed a £4bn (US$5bn) 3-year supply agreement with the Norwegian oil and gas group Equinor for the delivery of an additional 1 bcm/year of gas supplies to the UK through 2024.
