CenterPoint sells Ohio gas business to National Fuel for US$2.6bn (US)

US utility CenterPoint Energy has announced the sale of its Ohio natural gas Local Distribution Company (LDC) business, Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio, to National Fuel Gas Company, a US-based diversified energy company, for US$2.6 bn (CenterPoint press release, 21/10/2025).

The divested assets include approximately 5,900 miles (9,500 km) of transmission and distribution pipeline in Ohio, serving around 335,000 customers. The transaction will allow CenterPoint to redirect capital toward its electric and gas utility operations in Texas, Indiana, and Minnesota, according to the company’s CEO.

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, and CenterPoint expects it to be finalized in the fourth quarter of 2026.
