Cedar LNG, a joint venture between Canada’s Pembina Pipeline and the Haisla Nation, has received an environmental assessment certificate (EAC) from the British Columbia Environmental Assessment Office to develop the Cedar LNG project, a 3 Mt/year floating LNG facility located on Haisla Nation-owned land in Kitimat, British Columbia (western Canada).
Cedar LNG has also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Montney producer ARC Resources for a 20-year liquefaction services agreement covering about half the facility’s expected output (1.5 Mt/year). The US$2.4bn FLNG project will receive feed gas from the Coastal GasLink pipeline.
In addition, Cedar LNG received its first permit from the British Columbia Energy Regulator for the approximately 8.5-km pipeline that will connect the project into the aforementioned Coastal GasLink pipeline.
Pembina Pipeline and the Haisla Nation each own 50% of the Cedar LNG project. A final investment decision for the project is expected for the third quarter of 2023.
