CB&I wins EPC contract for 2.5 Mt hydrocracking unit in Russia

Russian oil company NefteGazIndustriya has selected CB&I as EPC contractor for the Afipsky Oil Refinery in Krasnodar, Russia. CB&I's project scope includes detailed engineering, procurement services, construction management services and commissioning services of multiple process units, including a 2.5 Mt/year (50,000 bbl/d) hydrocracker unit licensed by Chevron Lummus Global, a joint venture between CB&I and Chevron, as well as detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication and supply of a steam methane reformer for a large-scale hydrogen plant, hydrocracking heaters and exchangers.

In July 2014, CB&I was already awarded a US$90m contract by NefteGazIndustriya, to provide the technology licenses and front end engineering and design (FEED) services for the refinery.

The Afipsky refinery was commissioned in 1964 and has a current distillation capacity of 105,000 bbl/d; it is undergoing an expansion process, aimed at adding more than 50,000 bbl/d by 2018 and a 3.3 Mt/year diesel hydrotreater by 2019.
