Canadian NEB approves 4 LNG export licence applications

The Canadian National Energy Board (NEB or Board) has approved applications for 25-year gas export licences to export LNG to:

- Prince Rupert LNG for 21.6 Mt/year and a maximum term amount of 592 Mt,

- Pacific NorthWest LNG for 19.68 Mt/year and a maximum term amount of 555 Mt,

- WCC LNG for 30 Mt/year and a maximum term amount of 800 Mt,

- Woodfibre LNG for 2.1 Mt/year a maximum term amount of 60.4 Mt.

Issuance of the licences to export LNG is subject to the approval of the Governor in Council.



Prince Rupert LNG is a 19 Mt/year proposed liquefaction facility developed by BG Group (100%) and expected to be commissioned in 2020. Pacific NorthWest LNG is a proposed 16 Mt/year liquefaction project, developed by Petronas (87%) and Japex (10%), planned by 2018. WCC LNG will have a liquefaction capacity of 40 Mt/year (project developed by ExxonMobil and Imperial Oil on a 50-50 basis) as of 2021, while Woodfibre LNG, a wholly-owned project of Pacific Oil, will liquefy 2.8 Mt/year as of 2021.
