Canada plans a new 12 Mt/year LNG export terminal in British Columbia

The Nisga'a Nation, a British Columbia First Nation, has partnered with Rockies LNG Partners (a group of Western Canadian gas producers) and the US company Western LNG to develop a 12 Mt/year (16.2 bcm/year) LNG export terminal located near the village of Gingolx, a coastal community about 80 kilometres north of Prince Rupert (British Columbia) in Canada. The CAD10bn (US$7.8bn) project, called Ksi Lisims LNG, would include a pipeline to transport natural gas from the northeast corner of the province to the coast and a floating LNG (FLNG) facility to liquefy gas. Construction could start in 2024 and the LNG export may be operational in late-2027 or 2028.

This project would be located near the 14 Mt/year LNG Canada project led by Shell Canada and currently under construction in Kitimat, and near the 2.1 Mt/year Woodfibre LNG project under development in Squamish (final investment decision expected in 2021).
