Black Sea Oil and Gas (BSOG) and its partners, Petro Ventures Resources and Gas Plus Dacia, have produced first gas from the Midia gas development (MGD) project at Ana and Doina gas fields in the XV Midia Shallow Concession, in the Romanian Black Sea. The project should deliver approximately 0.5 bcm of gas in 2022, with peak production expected to reach 1 bcm/year for the following three years out of the ten of field life estimated for the Ana and Doina gas fields (roughly 8.5 bcm of reserves). The MGD project consists of 5 offshore production wells (1 subsea well at Doina field and 4 platform wells at Ana field), one unmanned production platform located on Ana field, a 126 km gas pipeline linking the Ana platform to the shore and to a new onshore gas treatment plant (GTP) in Corbu in the Constanta County.
BSOG is owned by Carlyle International Energy Partners and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). BSOG operates and holds a 70% interest in the MGD project together with its partners Petro Ventures Resources (20%) and Gas Plus Dacia (10%).
Between 2017 and 2021, Romania's natural gas production declined by 17%, from 10.6 bcm to 8.8 bcm.
