Brookfield has agreed to acquire Aypa Power from funds managed by Blackstone Energy Transition Partners, assigning the company an enterprise value of approximately USD7bn (Brookfield press release, 22/07/2026).

According to Brookfield, the transaction will mark its entry into the North American battery energy storage market.

Aypa Power operates a portfolio comprising approximately 6.5 GW of operating, under-construction and contracted battery storage capacity across the US and Canada. The company is presented as the largest stand-alone battery storage developer in North America, with a development pipeline exceeding 20 GW.

According to the press release, its assets are located in areas facing transmission and capacity constraints.

Under the terms of the agreement, Brookfield will acquire Aypa’s project portfolio as well as its development activities.

The completion of the transaction remains subject to customary regulatory approvals.
