Brooge, Siemens will build a 650 MW solar plant for a hydrogen project (UAE)

Brooge Renewable Energy (BRE), a subsidiary of the Emirati oil storage and refinery company Brooge Energy, has partnered with Germany’s Siemens Energy to develop a 650 MW solar plant in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), which will be used to power a green hydrogen and green ammonia project in the country.

The solar plant will supply BRE’s planned Phase 1 of the green ammonia project. Siemens Energy will provide solutions including engineering, design procurement, construction, grid connection and operation and maintenance services for the power plant.

The UAE plans to achieve a global hydrogen export market share of 25%. The country targets an increase in the share of renewable energy in its total energy mix to 50% by 2050 and to achieve carbon neutrality the same year.
