The Brazilian Federal Court of the 1st Region has suspended the license of the 3 GW Solatio H2V Piauí, a green hydrogen and ammonia project in the municipality of Parnaíba (Piauí, Brazil) (Eixos, 15/01/2026). The decision required the immediate halt of any work due to lack of authorized water use and risks of overloading the regional power grid. The project, which is being developed by Solatio, is under review for downscaling or conversion into a data centre complex.
The H2V Piauí planned to produce green hydrogen and ammonia, with an electrolysis capacity of 3 GW and an integrated 9 GW solar project. The project was expected to start operations in 2029, with gradual expansion until 2031, producing about 400 kt/year of green hydrogen and up to 2.2 Mt of green ammonia on its initial phase, most of which was planned to be aimed at the European market.
