BP has confirmed that it is proceeding with the development of its Cypre offshore gas project located 78 km off the southeast coast of Trinidad (Trinidad and Tobago) within the East Mayaro Block, in a water depth of approximately 80 metres.
The project, which is expected to deliver average gas production of 250-300 mcf/d (2.6-3.1 bcm/year) at peak, will comprise seven wells and subsea trees tied back into BP’s existing Juniper platform via two new 14 kilometre flexible flowlines. Drilling is due to commence in 2023 and first gas from the facility is scheduled for 2025.
BP is the largest gas producer in Trinidad and Tobago, accounting for about 60% of the country’s gas output (2018). In 2021, Trinidad and Tobago produced 26 bcm of natural gas (-16% compared to 2020).
