BP starts gas production from the Cassia C facility (Trinidad and Tobago)

BP Trinidad and Tobago, a subsidiary of the British oil and gas company BP, has started gas production from the Cassia C offshore facility, located about 56 km off Trinidad and Tobago’s south-eastern coast. Cassia C is expected to produce, at peak, between 200 and 300 mcf/day (2.1 to 3.1 bcm/year) of natural gas, i.e. 8% to 12% of the country's gas production in 2021 (26 bcm, 15% less than in 2020). Cassia C, installed in 2020, is BP Trinidad and Tobago’s first offshore compression platform and its biggest offshore facility. It will enable the group to access and produce low pressure gas resources from the Greater Cassia Area.

BP is the largest gas producer in Trinidad and Tobago (55% of total production in 2020 with 17.3 bcm/year) and holds significant stakes in the Atlantic LNG production plant. BP is also developing the Cypre offshore gas project, which is expected to deliver average gas production of 250-300 mcf/day (2.6-3.1 bcm/year) at peak after production begins in 2025.
