BP loads first cargo from GTA LNG project off Mauritania and Senegal

The UK oil and gas group BP has loaded the first cargo of LNG for export from its Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) phase 1 LNG project, located about 120 km offshore Mauritania and Senegal. This first cargo of LNG at GTA is the third upstream major project start-up of the year for BP, which expects to conduct 10 by the end of 2027. BP had announced the production of first gas from GTA in late 2024 and first LNG in February 2025.

The GTA Phase 1 development is expected to produce around 2.4 Mt/year of LNG for more than 20 years. It is the first gas development in this new basin offshore Mauritania and Senegal.
