The Turkish state-owned oil and gas company BOTAS has signed two long-term agreements for the supply of LNG with Mercuria Energy Group and Woodside Energy.
The first agreement, signed with the Swiss trading house Mercuria, covers the supply of approximately 4 bcm/year of LNG over a 20-year period, starting in 2026. LNG will be sourced from export terminals in the United States on a FOB basis and delivered to regasification facilities in Türkiye, Europe, and North Africa (DES).
The second agreement was concluded with Australia’s Woodside Energy. Under this contract, BOTAS will receive around 5.8 bcm of LNG over 9 years (0.6 bcm/year), starting in 2030. The supply will primarily originate from Woodside’s Louisiana LNG project in the United States, which received final investment approval in April 2025. The project is scheduled to begin delivering gas in 2029.
Most of the Turkish gas supply comes from imports, which reached 51.7 bcm in 2024 (including 12 bcm of LNG).
