Canada-based Boralex and Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (SNGRDC) have closed CAD202m (USD145m) in financing for the 125 MW/500 MWh Oxford battery energy storage project in Ontario, Canada (Boralex press release, 02/04/2026).
“With a capacity of 125 MW / 500 MWh, this facility will be Boralex’s third battery energy storage project in North America, SNGRDC’s fifth, and the second developed jointly with SNGRDC and Boralex”, according to the company’s press release.
The Oxford project, located in South-West Oxford, is scheduled to begin commercial operation in 2027. In October 2025, Boralex and SNGRDC had secured approval from the Oxford City Council for the project.
The news comes as Boralex and SNGRDC recently commissioned their first project, the 300 MW/1.2 GWh Hagersville Battery Energy Storage Park in Haldimand County, Ontario, designed to provide grid services.
