The Spanish renewable company BlueFloat Energy has announced to develop a 1,725 MW floating offshore wind project off the coast of the Australian state of New South Wales. The Eastern Rise offshore wind project will be located in the new Hunter-Central Coast Renewable Energy Zone, which was announced by the Australian Government in late February 2023. The project is set to become operational after a development and construction period of seven years.
BlueFloat Energy is specialised in floating offshore wind projects and currently has over 22.5 GW of planned capacity under development, including the 2.1 GW Gippsland project and the 1.2 GW Southern Winds project in Australia, as well as the 1.4 GW West Waikato project and the 900 MW South Taranaki project in New Zealand.
