BlueFloat Energy plans more than 5.2 GW of offshore wind in Colombia

BlueFloat Energy is developing 5 GW of offshore wind projects in Colombia, and the first one could be ready to enter construction in 2024-2025. The Spanish company has already secured the pre-feasibility status from the Colombian maritime authority DIMAR for the 500 MW Vientos Alisios project, which also received a 200 MW grid connection with the country’s mining and energy planning unit UPME. The offshore wind power plant, located off the coast of the departments of Bolivar and Atlantico, is developed in partnership with Enerxia Renovables. In addition to Vientos Alisios, BlueFloat Energy plans six other potential projects off Colombia’s coasts with a total capacity of 5.2 GW of capacity, including two floating wind projects, located off the coast of the Caribbean city of Santa Marta.
