Blue Circle and CleanTech plan a 1.2 GW offshore wind plant in the Philippines

The Blue Circle, a Singapore-based renewable company, and CleanTech Global Renewables, an independent power producer and renewable electricity developer in the Philippines, have secured a wind energy service contract for a 1.2 GW offshore wind project in Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro (Philippines). The power plant will include 100 turbines with a unit capacity of 12 MW. According to the Philippines Department of Energy, the potential of offshore wind power in the Philippines is over 170 GW and Oriental Mindoro would be the best offshore wind site of the country.

Earlier in January 2022, the Spanish energy group Iberdrola reached an agreement with Triconti ECC Renewables (Philippine) and Stream Invest Holding (Switzerland) to develop 5 offshore wind projects totalling 3.5 GW in the country. They have secured a Wind Energy Service Contract from the Philippines Department of Energy.
