Meja Urja Nigam Ltd (MUNPL) has awarded a INR210bn (USD2.2bn) engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) package to BHEL for setting up its 2,400 MW (3×800 MW) Meja supercritical coal-fired power project Stage-II at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh (India). The EPC contract, including design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, construction, erection, testing and commissioning works, and will last 70 months. The 2.4 GW Super Thermal Power Project (STPP) should then be commissioned by the end of the first quarter of 2032.
BHEL has also won a INR20-25bn (USD210-260m) order from Dangote Petroleum for the design, manufacturing, supply and supervision of erection and commissioning of eight gas turbine generator packages for its petroleum refinery and polypropylene plant in Dangote Industries Free Zone, Nigeria. The contract will be executed within 26 months (by the end of August 2028).
