Azerbaijan moves ahead with 600 MW offshore wind project in the Caspian Sea

The Energy Ministry of Azerbaijan has appointed Clean Energy Capital, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Green Energy Company (AGEC), to build a 600 MW offshore wind energy project in the Caspian Sea.

The parties have signed an executive agreement to assess, develop, and implement the construction of the offshore wind energy facility. The project plans a wind park with an initial phase of 200 MW, to be later increased to a total capacity of 600 MW.

Azerbaijan aims to commission 6 GW of wind energy capacity, both onshore and offshore, by 2032. The World Bank estimates Azerbaijan's total technical offshore wind potential at 157 GW, including 122 GW in deep water and 35 GW in shallow water.
