Australia's thermal coal output forecast to rise by 4.3%/year to 2023-24

Australia’s thermal coal exports are forecast to increase by 2.5%/year between 2020-21 and 2023-24 to 207 Mt, according to the country’s Ministry of Industry. In parallel, the country’s thermal coal output should rise by 4.3%/year over the same period to 257 Mt in 2023-24. The country’s LNG exports are expected to grow by 1.2%/year between 2020-21 and 2023-24 to 80 Mt, while natural gas production should rise by 1.8%/year over the same period to 159 bcm in 2023-24.

Crude oil exports would increase by 0.6%/year between 2020-21 and 2023-24 to 280 kb/d in a context of stagnating production (+0.2%/year between 2020-21 and 2023-24 to 336 kb/d). Finally, uranium exports are expected to decline by 2.3%/year between 2020-21 and 2023-24 to 5.5 kt, while output should increase by 0.2%/year over the same period to 5.5 kt.
