The Australian Northern Gas Pipeline project broke ground

The Australian company Jemena has broken ground on the A$800m (US$603m) Northern Gas Pipeline (NGP) transmission project, which will span 622 km and spread over several Australian states. It will transport gas from the Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory (NT) gas fields and deliver it to the East Coast gas market at Mount Isa (Queensland).

The company reported that half of the NT part of the pipeline and most of the Queensland part will be laid out in 2017 while the remainder will be built in 2018 with first gas expected to flow through the facility in late 2018.

Jemena is an Australian company operating mostly in New South Wales (gas network) and Victoria State (electricity network). It is in charge of several gas and electricity assets of which in particular the Eastern Gas Pipeline which supplies gas from Victoria's Gippsland basin to the Australian Capital Territory, Sydney and New South Wales.
