Ark Energy’s 435 MW solar + 2.2 GWh BESS project approved in Australia

The Australian energy group Ark Energy has received planning approval from the New South Wales Government (Australia) for the 435 MW solar component of its Richmond Valley hybrid project, which has been in development since 2019 (Ark Energy press release, 16/10/2025).

The solar park will be co-located with a 475 MW/3,148 MWh long-duration battery energy storage system (BESS). The solar and BESS hybrid project is included on the Australian Government’s national priority list and will be located in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales.

A final investment decision is still pending from the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).
