Ark Energy has secured a final investment decision (FID) for the AUD1.3bn (USD910m) Richmond Valley Solar Farm & BESS project in New South Wales (NSW), Australia, following approval by its parent company Korea Zinc (Ark Energy press release, 24/06/2026).
This priority stage of the project includes a 200 MW solar park and a 275 MW / 2.2 GWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery system. Financial close is targeted for September 2026, with construction expected to begin in October and commercial operations planned for January 2029.
The milestone follows the receipt of planning approval from the NSW Government in October 2025, federal environmental approval in December 2025, and grid connection approval in June 2026. The project also benefits from a Long-Term Energy Service Agreement (LTESA) under the NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap and is included on Australia’s National Renewable Energy Priority List.
