Argentina will invest US$1.5bn to expand its gas network in 2021-2022

The government of Argentina has decided to activate the Transport.Ar plan and approved a US$1.5bn investment in its gas transmission and distribution network for the second half of 2021 and 2022; US$1,161m will be invested in the transmission network and US$398m in distribution networks in the regions of Santa Fe, Catamarca, La Rioja, Jujuy, Santa Cruz, Buenos Aires, Chaco, Mendoza, Santiago del Estero and San Luis.

The Transport.Ar national production gas pipeline system includes the construction of new gas pipelines, such as the Nestor Kirchner gas pipeline project between Tratayén and the south of Santa Fe, the La Mora-Tío Pujio gas pipeline, and the Mercedes-Cardales gas pipeline,  strengthening, reversing or expanding existing gas pipelines, such as the Central West gas pipeline between Tratayén and La Mora, the General San Martín gas pipeline (expansion), the North gas pipeline (reversal), the GNEA (repowering and completion), final sections in GBA and Ordoqui, and repowering the network to Uruguayana.
