Annova LNG export project in Texas gets positive FERC draft EIS (US)

Annova LNG’s proposed Brownsville LNG export project in Texas has been granted a draft environmental impact statement (EIS) by the United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The project is estimated to result in some adverse environmental impacts but they are estimated to be insignificant. The final version of the EIS is expected to be released in April 2019 and the FERC will decide whether the proposed project will receive a permit in July 2019.

The Brownsville LNG terminal is developed by Annova LNG, a subsidiary of the US energy group Exelon Corporation. The project would consist of up to six liquefaction trains of 1 Mt/year each, for a cumulative capacity of 6 Mt/year, and would include two 160,000 m3 storage tanks. The first two LNG trains would be commissioned in the second quarter of 2024, two others would follow in the third quarter of 2024 and the last two trains would be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2024.
