Angola's oil company Sonangol to sell non-core assets by 2022

As part of the Angola government’s privatisation programme, which lists 195 state-owned enterprises to be fully or partially privatised within 3 years, national oil corporation Sonangol has announced that it will sell 50 non-core assets by 2022 to make the company financially more robust. Sonangol is expected to privatize 20 companies and assets by the end of 2019, with 26 planned to be sold by 2020, three in 2021 and one in 2022.

The list includes divestments in the subsidiaries and assets of Sonangol Cabo Verde – Sociedade e Investimentos and Óleos de São Tomé and Príncipe, as well as stakes in refining company Société ivoirienne de raffinage (Ivory Coast), mid- and dowstream company Puma Energy Holdings (Singapore) and Sonandiets Services (Panama), by 2021. The state-owned company will also sell its stakes in Sonacergy – Serviços e Construções, in Sonafurt International Shipping and in various companies in the real estate, tourism, health, education, transport, telecommunications, energy, civil construction, mineral resources and oil and banking sectors.
