ANEEL allows 1.5 GW Porto de Sergipe I CCGT project to operate (Brazil)

The Brazilian National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) has authorised the 1,516 MW Porto de Sergipe I CCGT power project in north-eastern Brazil to operate. The project includes three 333 MW units and a 517 MW unit that will operate with a limited capacity of 445 MW. It also includes a dedicated LNG import and regasification terminal using the 170,000 m3 newbuild Golar Nanook floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) with a regasification capacity of more than 21 mcm/d (7.7 bcm/year) and chartered for 25 years as of November 2017. The CCGT power plant will supplement hydropower during dry seasons, helping to meet growing demand for electricity in the region. It will supply power to 26 committed power distribution companies across the country for 25 years until December 2044. The total investment in the power plant and in the terminal is estimated at BRL 4.3bn (U$1.3bn).
