Anadarko makes positive FID on Mozambique LNG project

Anadarko and its partners in Mozambique's Offshore Area 1 have made a positive Final Investment Decision (FID) on the Mozambique LNG project. The project will be the first liquefaction project in Mozambique, tapping gas reserves of the Golfinho/Atum fields located within Offshore Area 1, estimated to hold more than 2,100 bcm or 12 Gboe. It will consist of two LNG trains with a combined production capacity of 12.88 Mt/year, for which 11.1 Mt/year of LNG contracts have already been secured. In addition, the project will supply gas for domestic consumption in Mozambique.

MLNG is being developed by Anadarko (26.5%) in partnership with Mitsui E&P Mozambique (20%), Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH, 15%), ONGC-OIL (10%), Beas Rovuma Energy (10%), Bharat PetroResources (10%) and PTTEP (8.5%). Earlier in June 2019, partners awarded a US$6bn Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract to a joint venture of Saipem, McDermott International and Chiyoda Corporation. Construction will start soon and the project could be commissioned in 2022-2023.
