Amberside and CIP partner for 2 GW of solar and battery projects in the UK

The British company Amberside Energy and the Danish fund manager Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) have partnered to develop 2 GW of solar and battery storage projects across the United Kingdom (UK). Amberside Energy will lead the development activities for the solar and battery storage projects, while CIP will structure and finance the projects. CIP’s Flagship Funds will offer the required capital for the development of these projects, subject to investment decisions.

Several commercial scale solar projects were recently announced in the UK, notably the 800 MW Springwell project, the 350 MW Mallard Pass solar project and the 600 MW Tween Bridge solar project, all located in Lincolnshire County, as well as the 840 MW Botley West Solar project located in Oxfordshire.

At the end of 2021, solar represented 14% of the UK’s installed capacity with 13.7 GW and 4% of its power generation with 12.7 TWh. The UK currently has over 14 GW of solar projects under development.
