AGEL added 5 GW renewable capacity in FY 2025-26 (India)

Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL), Adani’s renewable subsidiary, has announced that it added over 5 GW renewable energy capacity in fiscal 2025-2026, taking its total operational portfolio to 19.3 GW (AGEL press release, 01/04/2026).

“The new capacity addition includes 3.4 GW (3,409 MW) of solar, 0.7 GW (686 MW) of wind and 1 GW (956 MW) of wind-solar hybrid capacity. It is expected to offset around 10 Mt of carbon emissions annually, and AGEL’s total operational portfolio of 19.3 GW will result in a massive annual carbon offset of 36 million tonnes”, according to the company’s press release.

Most of the new capacity was commissioned at the world’s largest renewable energy plant being developed by AGEL at Khavda, Gujarat (India). Out of the planned 30 GW by 2029 at Khavda, AGEL has already installed a cumulative capacity of 9.4 GW at the site. Further, the company also brought online an initial 1.4 GWh of BESS at Khavda. The company aims to install 50 GW of renewable capacity by 2030, while India aims to reach 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity in the same year.

The government recently approved the country’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) for 2031–2035, with the objective to increase the share of non-fossil fuel energy resources in installed electric power capacity to 60% by 2035 (52.6% as of February 2026) (KEI, 26/03/2026). Additionally, in January 2026, the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) announced that the country reached a non-fossil power capacity of 267 GW during 2025, representing an increase of 23% compared to 2024 (KEI, 14/01/2026).
