AGDC filed an application for the Alaska LNG permit (US)

The Alaska Gasline Development Corporation (AGDC) has officially filed an application regarding the Alaska LNG Project to the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), which will study the environmental impact of the project and coordinate permit applications with other agencies.

The US$45bn Alaska LNG project encompasses a gas treatment plant located at Prudhoe Bay (North Slope region, Northern Alaska), a 800 mile (approximatively 1287 km) pipeline from Prudhoe Bay down to Nikiski (Anchorage region, Alaska) and a liquefaction plant with three trains in Nikiski with a combined capacity of 20 Mt/year each.

The project will liberate around 35 trillion cubic feet (991 bcm) of proven gas reserves from the North Slope region. The pipeline is expected to have an average throughput of 3.1 bcf/d (87.8 mcm/d).

In January 2017, the AGDC signed a Cooperation Agreement with BP to jointly develop the financial and tolling structure for the project. The companies will seek to use third-party infrastructure funding sources to cut the cost of service on the project infrastructure and plan to commission the project in 2023-2025.
