ADNOC signs 15-year SPA to supply 1 Mt/year of LNG from Ruwais LNG (UAE) to Germany

The Emirati company ADNOC has signed a 15-year sales and purchase agreement (SPA) to supply 1 Mt/year of LNG to SEFE Marketing and Trading Singapore, a subsidiary of Germany’s SEFE Securing Energy for Europe. The LNG will primarily be sourced from the 9.6 Mt/year Ruwais LNG project, which is currently under development Al Ruwais Industrial City (Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates), with deliveries expected to start in 2028 when the project becomes operational.

The Ruwais LNG plant will consist of two 4.8 Mt/year LNG liquefaction trains that will more than double ADNOC’s LNG production capacity. Over 7 Mt/year of Ruwais LNG project’s production capacity has been committed to international customers through long-term agreements.

The SPA builds on the UAE-Germany Energy Security and Industry Accelerator (ESIA) signed by the UAE and Germany in 2022, which aims to advance cooperation in energy security, decarbonization and lower-carbon fuels, and converts a 15-year Long-Term Heads of Agreement signed in March 2024 into a definitive agreement.
