ADNOC reaches FID for the SARB deep gas project in the UAE (2 bcm/year)

ADNOC has reached a final investment decision (FID) for its 2.1 bcm/year SARB deep gas project within the Ghasha Concession located offshore of Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates (ADNOC press release, 07/01/2026).

  • The project has the capacity to deliver up to 200 mcf/d (5.7 mcm/day or 2.1 bcm/year).
  • It is comprised of a new offshore platform with four gas production wells, which connect to Das Island, at approximately 120 km of Abu Dhabi (UAE), where it will be connected into ADNOC Gas facilities for upstream treatment.
  • It plans to use advanced technologies and artificial intelligence that will be operated from Arzanah Island.

According to Enerdata’s Global Energy and CO2 Data, gas covered 2/3 of the UAE’s energy consumption in 2024.
