India’s Adani Power, Adani Green Energy and Adani Energy have won a bid to supply a combined 6.6 GW of renewable and thermal power to Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL), the electricity distribution company of the Maharashtra State (India) over a 25-year period. Specifically, Adani Green Energy will supply 5 GW of solar energy from its renewable power park in Khavda, Gujarat State, while Adani Power will supply 1.6 GW of thermal power.
Adani Green Energy’s wind-solar hybrid power plant in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, has already been supplying green energy to Mumbai, Maharashtra's capital, since 2023. With the new contracts resulting from the tender, Adani will be able to increase its presence in the Indian State.
Maharashtra's power consumption is projected to reach 200 TWh by 2028. The state estimates that 32% will come from renewable resources at that date.
