Adani Power signs PPA for a new 1.6 GW USC power plant in Maharashtra (India)

The Indian private power group Adani Power has signed a 25-year Power Supply Agreement (PSA) with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) to provide 1,600 MW of electricity from a new 1,600 MW ultra-supercritical (USC) coal-fired power project in the Indian State of Maharashtra.

Adani Power had been selected in March 2026 by MSEDCL through a competitive tender for the supply of 1.6 GW, having submitted a first year tariff of INR5.3/kWh (USD5c/kWh). The project will consist of two 800 MW USC units, that will be developed under a Design, Build, Finance, Own and Operate (DBFOO) model. It will benefit from domestic coal linkage under the Central government's SHAKTI policy. Commissioning and power supply are expected in the fiscal year 2031.

Adani Power aims to raise its installed power capacity from 18,150 MW to 41,870 MW by 2031-2032.
