Adani (India) increased its installed capacity by 8.8% in FY 2022

Adani Power Group, India’s largest private thermal power producer, has released its yearly results, posting increases in revenue and installed capacity for FY 2021-2022.  Adani’s total revenue increased to INR31,686 crore (US$4.1bn), a 12.6% jump from 2020-2021. The group’s installed thermal power generation capacity increased by 8.8% to 13.6 GW, due to the acquisition in late 2021 of Essar Power’s 1.2 GW coal-fired plant in late 2021. However, the group’s aggregated energy sales decreased by 12.1%, from 59.3 TWh in FY 2020-2021 to 52.1 TWh in FY 2021-2022. The overwhelming majority of Adani’s generation is done through coal-fired power plants, with solar power representing only 40 MW of the company’s installed capacity. Adani Power has nonetheless expressed its intention to reach 10 GW of solar installed capacity in the future.
