Adani commissions a 700 MW wind-solar hybrid plant in Rajasthan (India)

Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL), a subsidiary of the Adani Group, has connected to the grid a 700 MW wind-solar hybrid power plant in Jaisalmer, in the state of Rajasthan (north-western India). The project is contracted under a power purchase agreement (PPA) to deliver power for a tariff of INR3.24/kWh (US$3.95c/kWh) for a period of 25 years. The new hybrid power plant consists of a combination of 600 MW of solar and 510 MW of wind plants.

With the commissioning of this project, which is the company’s fourth hybrid plant, Adani Green Energy’s operational renewables portfolio in India surpasses 8 GW. So far Adani Green Energy has commissioned a 390 MW facility in May 2022, followed by a 600 MW facility in September 2022, and a 450 MW plant in December 2022. The four hybrid plants, totalling 2.14 GW, are all located in Jaisalmer.

At the end of 2021, solar and wind accounted for over 20% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 49 GW and 40 GW, while hydropower capacity surpassed 51 GW. India plans to increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW and meet 50% of its energy requirements from renewables by 2030.
