ACWA Power strengthens China presence with 1.25 GW wind acquisition

Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power has announced further progress in its expansion into the Chinese energy market, confirming that its China-based subsidiary received formal notification on 29 December 2025 regarding the acquisition of wind power assets totaling 1.25 GW (Arab News press release, 30/12/2025).

The transaction includes one operational site of 250 MW and four projects under construction totaling 1 GW, which will be handed over conditionally upon reaching operational readiness. This development follows ACWA Power’s initial announcement in December 2024 of its successful entry into China, through which the company secured over 1 GW of renewable energy projects.

The company has outlined plans to invest up to US$50bn in China by 2030, aiming to acquire and develop up to 20 GW of clean energy assets.
