ACWA Power and Bapco will develop a 2.8 GW of solar+BESS project in Saudi Arabia

The Saudi power group ACWA Power and Bahrain's energy group Bapco Energies have announced a Joint Development Agreement (JDA), committing to jointly developing a 2.8 GW solar power project supported by battery energy storage systems (BESS) over several phases in the Eastern Province of the Saudi Arabia. All the electricity generated will be transmitted to the load center of Bapco Energies in Bahrain, supporting Bahrain’s national energy needs and accelerating its transition to renewable energy sources. The commissioning date was not specified.

This project will help Saudi Arabia become an energy export hub, and aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.
