ACEN and partner will develop 1.2 GW of hybrid solar-wind projects in India

ACEN Corporation, a subsidiary of the Philippines’ Ayala Group, has partnered with the US renewable power company BrightNight to develop, build and operate over 1.2 GW of large-scale hybrid wind-solar and round-the-clock renewable power projects in India.

ACEN, through its subsidiaries ACEN Renewables International and ACEN International, will deploy US$250m to support the accelerated buildout of BrightNight’s pipeline of hybrid portfolio in India, which notably includes a differentiated 100 MW co-located hybrid wind-solar project in the state of Maharashtra (central India), scheduled for commissioning in early 2024.

BrightNight is developing a global portfolio of 23 GW across the United States and Asia Pacific, including India, Australia, the Philippines and Bangladesh, while ACEN has established a significant presence in Asia Pacific (the Philippines, Australia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and India) with around 4 GW of renewable capacity.

Earlier in March 2023, the Indian Group Adani commissioned the country’s largest wind-solar hybrid plant to date (700 MW) in the state of Rajasthan.
