ACEEE rewards Massachusetts (US) for its energy efficiency policy

The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) have released the US annual state scorecard, which ranks US States on their energy efficiency policy and program efforts. For the third year in a row Massachusetts retains the top spot based on its continued commitment to energy efficiency under its Green Communities Act. In California kept the second position thanks to requirements for reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, while Connecticut now ranks fifth further to have passed a major energy bill in 2013. The ACEEE notice particular energy efficiency policy improvement in the States of Mississippi, Maine, Kansas, Ohio, and West Virginia in 2013. The Mississippi set a mandatory energy code for commercial and state-owned buildings, while Ohio made significant efforts to ramp up utility programs to increased electricity savings. Both Kansas and West Virginia committed to improving building codes.
