ACCIONA Energía has sold two wind projects in Mexico (321 MW) and a 49% share on its 1.3 GW solar portfolio in the US to Mexico Infrastructure Partners (MIP) (ACCIONA Energia press release, 15/12/2025). According to the US$1bn deal, the company will retain a 51% majority stake on its US wind assets (458 MW Red Tailed Hawk, the 316 MW Fort Bend Solar, the 127 MW High Point Solar and the 415 MW Union Solar) distributed across the US states of Texas, Illinois and Ohio. The wind projects sold in Mexico were the 183 MW El Cortijo and the 138 MW Santa Cruz, both in Tamaulipas (Mexico). The transaction is expected to close in H1 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals.
The company has reached agreements for the sale of almost 1.7 GW of renewable capacity in Spain, South Africa, Peru and Costa Rica as part of its “selective asset rotation strategy” to strengthen its financial position.
