A2A (Italy) signs LNG deal with BP for 10 cargoes per year from 2027 to 2042

The Italian electricity and gas distributor A2A has signed a Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with BP for LNG, under which A2A will purchase up to 10 LNG cargoes per year (equivalent to approximately 1 bcm/year) from 2027 to 2044. Under the terms of the agreement, the LNG will be received and regasified at the OLT Offshore LNG Toscana terminal in Livorno, Italy, where A2A has secured multi-year regasification capacity through an auction process. Additional volumes may also be processed at other terminals across Europe. The contracted LNG will cover around 20% of the A2A Group’s gas needs.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2027, with volumes gradually decreasing from 2042 onward, in line with A2A’s expectations of reduced domestic gas consumption. As a result, part of the supply may be redirected to other markets.
