A2A acquires a 1 GW solar project portfolio in Italy

The Italian energy group A2A (created from the merger of AEM Milano and ASM Brescia) has signed an agreement with the Chinese company Talesun to acquire a pipeline of 1 GW of solar PV projects in Italy.

The company has already acquired solar PV plants with an installed capacity of around 100 MW in Trentino Alto Adige, Piedmont, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Lazio, Abruzzo, Marche, Apulia, Campania, Calabria, Sicily and Sardinia and plans to start building a 10 MW solar PV project in the Foggia province in early 2020. This project will be built without incentive and will be one of the first "market parity" PV projects in Italy, also including utility-scale storage systems to support the grid. The 1 GW portfolio will also generate electricity without incentives.

A2A operates 8.9 GW of power capacity, of which less than 100 MW is from solar. The group aims to renew its power generation capacity and decarbonise it.
