800 MW Vineyard Wind offshore wind park's approval process continues (US)

Vineyard Wind has completed technical review and confirmed that selecting GE as its preferred wind turbine supplier for its 800 MW Vineyard Wind 1 offshore wind project in Massachusetts (United States) would have no impact on the project's Construction and Operations Plan (COP). The company is thus rescinding its December 2020 request to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) to withdraw the COP and the federal permitting will continue.

Vineyard Wind is a 50:50 joint venture between Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Avangrid Renewable (an affiliate of the Spanish energy group Iberdrola). It is developing an 800 MW offshore wind project off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. In December 2020, the joint venture selected GE as its preferred supplier of wind turbines for its project. Vineyard Wind expects to reach financial close in the second half of 2021 and to start generating power in 2023.
