Poland’s gas transmission operator GAZ-SYSTEM has announced the launch of its first floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in Ulsan shipyard (South Korea) (GAZ-SYSTEM press release, 19/05/2026). The 295 metres long and 46 metres wide vessel has a regasification capacity of over 6 bcm/year of natural gas and a storage capacity of 170,000 m3 of LNG. It is expected to reach the Gulf of Gdansk on the Baltic Sea by the end of 2027 and to become operational in the first quarter of 2028. Once operational, the FSRU should complement Poland’s existing LNG import infrastructure at Świnoujście terminal.
GAZ-SYSTEM is a strategic company for the Polish economy. It is responsible for the transmission of natural gas, managing Poland's most important gas pipelines and the Baltic Pipe undersea gas pipeline.
