The 498 MW Fécamp wind park project authorization confirmed (France)

The Nantes Administrative Court of Appeal, which was seized by anti-wind associations, has rejected all the appeals seeking the cancellation of the license to operate a 498 MW offshore wind park off Fécamp and Etretat (Seine-Maritime), granted to EDF in March 2016 by a prefectoral order. Blocked for months by lawsuits coming from several environmental groups, the project saw its prefectoral authorization decree confirmed by the Administrative Court of Appeal of Nantes.

The 498 MW wind park project will be developed by EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN), Enbridge and WPD Offshore, and is expected to provide electricity to around 770,000 people. Its commissioning was initially envisaged in 2020 but has been postponed to 2021 or 2022.

EDF EN is also developing two other offshore wind parks in France: the 450 MW Courseulles-sur-Mer project (off Normandy, planned for 2021) and the 480 MW Saint-Nazaire facility (Atlantic Ocean, planned for 2021).
